Ros Stephen – Composer and Violinist


Ros is a violinist, violist and composer based in London. Her compositions are influenced by classical and world music, mixing live instrumentation with contemporary sounds. Her compositions have featured widely on film, TV and radio. She has written and recorded music for companies including Gothic Storm, Colossal Trailer Music, JDM Music, Motus Music and BMG.  She has also had numerous compositions published by published by Oxford University Press, Schott Music Ltd, and the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, and her music has been performed in West End theatre.

As a violinist Ros has performed regularly in London’s West End (recent chairs have included Midnight Tango at the Aldwych Theatre, Sinatra at the Palladium, and Pinocchio and Hadestown at the National Theatre). She has performed live on BBC television and radio, and does regular film, tv and pop recording sessions. She has performed as a soloist on numerous film and television soundtracks including Barnaby Taylor’s score for Disney’s “Born in China” and Clint Mansell’s score for “Loving Vincent”. Ros works with a variety of orchestras, chamber ensembles, jazz and world music groups and performs regularly at St Martin in the Fields with the Trafalgar Sinfonia and the Belmont Ensemble.

Ros also regularly does remote recording for composers all around the world.
