Ros is a composer and violinist and violist based in London. Her compositions span a wide range of styles from orchestral and hybrid film trailers to more intimate neoclassical/ambient underscores. Ros also writes authentic folk-inspired compositions in styles such as Bluegrass, Irish, and Klezmer. Ros’s tracks often feature solo or multi-tracked live strings.
Ros is part of the custom team for Gothic Storm, and one of her bespoke tracks is currently being used in a cut for the Frozen 2 trailer. Ros writes regularly for Gothic Storm, Gothic Hybrid, Lovely Music, Minim and Gothic Storm’s Toolworks. She is currently collaborating with Sound Designer Nick Tzios on albums for Colossal Trailer Music and Position Music, and has collaborated with the Finnish composer Hannu Honkonen on several projects. Ros has written albums for BMG, Handmade Sounds, Motus Music, and Evolving Sound.
As a violinist Ros has performed in London’s West End, on BBC television and radio, played for film, tv and pop recording sessions, and worked with a wide variety of orchestras, chamber ensembles, and jazz and world music groups. From November 2018-February 2019 she performed on stage in the National Theatre’s production of the folk-opera Hadestown by American singer songwriter Anais Mitchell. Ros performs regularly at St Martin in the Fields with the Trafalgar Sinfonia and the Belmont Ensemble. Recent recording credits include solo violin on the new Twilight Hour trailer, several tracks on Brian Ferry’s new album Bitter-Sweet, Clint Mansell’s soundtrack for Loving Vincent, recorded at Air Studios, and solo violin on Barnaby Taylor’s soundtrack for Disney Nature’s Born in China, recorded in Abbey Road. Ros’s music has been published by Oxford University Press, Schott Music, and ABRSM, performed in West End theatre, and broadcast on BBC Radio 3.
